India's National Legislative Index: A Tool for Transparent Evaluation and Accountability

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has proposed the creation of a “National Legislative Index” to ensure transparent evaluation of the performance of state legislatures across the country. He said such an index would bring accountability before the people and enable assessment based on concrete outcomes.He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the 15th edition of the Indian Student Parliament, jointly organised by MIT World Peace University and MIT School of Government in Pune.Among those present on the occasion were former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, senior journalist and author Rajdeep Sardesai, and climate change management expert from Hamburg, Germany, Walter Leal Filho.
