Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived today on a State Visit to Seychelles. At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie, the Prime Minister will be here from 27 to 29 June as the Guest of Honour for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the country's National Day. The visit coincides with the anniversary of 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Prime Minister Modi said in a pre-departure statement that Seychelles is an important maritime neighbour of India and a key partner in its shared commitment to'Vision Ocean'and the Global South. The visit will further strengthen the enduring friendship between the two countries, following President Herminie's visit to India in February 2026. The Prime Minister will be the first Indian Prime Minister to address the National Assembly of Seychelles, which embodies the strong democratic values and parliamentary traditions of both countries. Seychelles is an important part of India's maritime security and prosperity strategy in the Indian Ocean region. The archipelago lies in the Western Indian Ocean, where India's'Vision Oceans'passes through the'Blue Ocean'domain.
