Iran Weighs Diplomacy and War as Qatari Envoy Proposes Agreement

The Qatari envoy had recently arrived in Tehran directly with the proposal. His mission was limited. He did not come for long talks. He just wanted to know what Iran decides on this proposal. On the other hand, Iran's military leadership is apprehensive about this agreement. Military strategists think that there may be a direct conflict with the US again. The political leadership wants to give diplomacy a chance, while the military leadership is considering the possibility of war more serious. President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that his government will try to solve the problems caused by external parties through dialogue. He said this in a meeting with regional governors and mayors in Tehran. According to Pezeshkian, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has given the government some powers to find a diplomatic solution. He said that war does not benefit anyone. However, he also made it clear that the enemies cannot force Iran to surrender. Pezeshkian accused the US of trying to thwart such cross-border trade efforts. Abbas said on Monday that the government would stop the cross-border trade.
