Iranian Foreign Minister Describes Tense Conversation with US Envoy

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has made statements in which he said that when he and another official from Tehran were talking to US President Donald Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff, the atmosphere was very tense. He said that during the conversation, he asked Witkoff if he had ever been involved in a conversation where there was a risk of being bombed at any moment. It was not clear what part or place of the conversation he was referring to. Araghchi says that Iran is not afraid of US threats. This is not Venezuela, where you catch one person. Everyone else retreats in fear. The conversation between Araghchi and Witkoff began during the nuclear talks. There have been several rounds of talks since then. Tehran says that this contact cannot be considered a formal conversation. Araghchi said in an interview with Iranian media news outlet Mehr that he did not mention Tehran's knee-jerk reaction to last year's military operation in the South American country. Araghchi said that talks would begin after the talks.
