In his official message to Prime Minister Modi, Mojtaba Khamenei said, "Your Excellency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Republic of India, received your message of congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha." The Supreme Leader of the Republic of Iran further said, "While expressing my sincere gratitude, I also extend my best wishes to you. I am confident that the historic friendship between our two countries, based on mutual respect and shared interests, will continue to strengthen and expand through the efforts of our two governments. I pray to Almighty God for the prosperity and continued success of the Government and great people of India." This communication is believed to be his first direct message with Prime Minister Narendra Modi since Mojtaba Khamenei became the Supreme Leader of Iran. The Supreme Leader of Mojtaba has not been seen in public since Mojtaba's assumption of office.
