Iranian Tankers Evade US Naval Blockade Using Deceptive Methods, Report Claims

Tehran: At least 34 Iranian-linked tankers have evaded a US naval blockade using "dark" transit, AIS spoofing and "ghost fleet" (flag changing), the Financial Times has reported, claiming that these tankers, carrying about 107 million barrels of oil, used these "deceptive" methods to bypass tracking systems and pass through restricted passages, generating an estimated $910 million in revenue. While US President Donald Trump has claimed that Washington fully controls the Strait of Hormuz and has described the ongoing naval blockade as a resounding success, the FT report leaves Trump's claims open.
