Jan Suraj Demands Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's Resignation Over Electoral Roll Revision Irregularities

Prashant Kishor's party Jan Suraj has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. Party's national spokesperson Kumar Saurabh issued a statement on this issue on Friday (September 25, 2026). Jan Suraj leader Kumar Saurabh said that there is a serious question mark on the internal dispute within the Election Commission, allegations of major irregularities in the Electoral Roll Revision (SIR), institutional transparency and credibility associated with it. It is necessary to follow a fair and transparent election process so that the faith of the general public in India's democracy is maintained. He said that the names of a total of more than 130 million voters across the country were removed from the draft electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The entire process of SIR is under serious question. He said that the appointment process and the past background of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is also in serious question. Kumar Saurabh said that the working style and credibility of Gyanesh Kumar's resignation should not be taken into serious consideration.
