It took 25 years for the dream of the people of Jewar, who have been suffering from backwardness since independence, to realize the dream of an important project like international airport. Nine years ago, after the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Center and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the state, site clearance was received for the construction of the airport in 2017. After land acquisition and displacement from three thousand farmer families of six villages of Jewar on 25 November 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Noida International Airport, but the construction work could start only in June. It took about six months to select the construction agency Tata Projects. Yamuna International Airport Pvt. Ltd. was given 1095 days to complete the project. Despite exempting the construction work of the project in Covid and Grap, the work could not be completed on time. The date of inauguration had to be postponed several times due to delays in construction and objections after repeated inspections and instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. On completion of the construction work, after the clearance of security agencies on 28 March and commercial flight operations of Jewar International Airport, the then Chief Minister Rajnath Singh was waiting for the completion of the dream.
