Jharkhand Cabinet Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu Dies of Heart Attack

Late on Saturday night in Jharkhand, Sudivya Kumar Sonu, a cabinet minister in the government of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and a veteran leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), died of a heart attack. He was reportedly at his residence in Giridih when his health deteriorated. He was rushed to the local Mercy Hospital in Giridih, where he could not be saved despite the best efforts of doctors. Minister Sudivya's condition had become very critical, he could not be taken to Ranchi for better treatment. Officials of the Giridih administration and supporters of the minister rushed to the hospital as soon as the news of the incident was received. The news of the minister's death sent shockwaves among JMM workers and supporters. Sudivya Kumar Sonu was currently an MLA from Giridih assembly constituency. He won the Giridih Sadar seat for the first time in 2019. He won the 2024 assembly election for the second time and became a cabinet minister in the Hemant Soren government. He had the portfolio of Art, Tourism, Youth Affairs, Sports, Municipal Education and Technical Development in his home state.
