Jharkhand Student Protests Reach Boiling Point as Talks Fail

The Hemant Soren government's talks with the student agitators protesting against the JPSC and JSSC of Jharkhand failed. The government agreed on some things in the third round of talks, but the students are adamant on demanding a CBI investigation. The student movement may reach a decisive turning point on Monday. The agitating students have announced a gherao of the Jharkhand Assembly on Monday. At the same time, the Assembly has been turned into a full cantonment to prevent the protesting students from reaching the Assembly. In view of the aggressive attitude of the students, the administration has imposed prohibitory orders around the Assembly from 12 midnight on August 10, 2026 until further orders. Security arrangements have been tightened outside the Assembly. Barricades have been put up so that the students cannot reach the Assembly. The students'movement continues in Jharkhand over the alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations. The standoff between the government and the students did not end even after about 5 hours. The government has not been able to reach a consensus on the outcome of the assembly.
