Joint Parliamentary Committee Postpones Final Report on Proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill

Before the start of the monsoon session of parliament, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed by the central government on the proposed 130th amendment to the constitution was to accept its final report in the meeting held on Friday (July 17, 2026), but due to the lack of consensus among the JPC members, the decision to accept the final report has been postponed for the time being. According to the chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Aparajita Sarangi, the proposed bill still needs further discussion and will continue to be discussed in the committee. In the meeting held on Friday (July 17, 2026) under the chairmanship of Aparajita Sarangi, the chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed on the 130th constitutional amendment bill, the officials of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Union Ministry of Law and Justice answered various questions raised by the members.
