The Bharatiya Janata Party has won 206 seats in West Bengal, which is much more than the majority mark. Among these, there is one seat that has brought Kalita Majhi, a 37-year-old house cleaner, to the assembly. Notably, she had been working at home continuously even after getting a ticket from the BJP. Before this, she had lost the election in 2021. Kalita Majhi had contested from the Ausgram seat in Bengal. She had defeated Trinamool Congress candidate Shyam Prasanna Lohar by more than 12 thousand votes. Majhi had received a total of 1 lakh 7 thousand 692 votes. Left leader Chanchal Kumar Majhi was at the third place on the seat and Tapas Baral was at the fourth place with only 2 thousand 82 votes. Kalita, a resident of Guskara area, used to do household work in 4 houses before entering the election and her income was 2500 rupees per month. It is being said that her association at the local level was a big reason that the BJP had given her a ticket again after 2021. Kalita lost the election to her family.
