Karnataka Congress Leadership in Flux: Kharge Seeks Efficient Leader

A lot is rapidly changing in Karnataka politics. On the one hand, DK Shivakumar is all set to take oath as the new chief minister of the state on June 3. On the other hand, the clamour for the post of Karnataka president has intensified. Party national president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Sunday that the party is still looking for the right person to replace him as the next president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Speaking to reporters at Kalaburagi airport, Kharge said that the party is carefully considering its options. The party is looking for leaders who can strengthen the organization before the next assembly elections. Kharge has said that obviously when these people leave, someone else will have to come. We are all looking. Kharge said that we have to see good people. We have to understand their coordination. We have to take a decision with a view to take the party forward. The next state president should be someone who keeps everyone united. We have to find efficient leaders who can work with us for the next 24 months.
