Keir Starmer Steps Down as MP, Focuses on International Matters

Former British Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Keir Starmer has also announced his resignation as an MP from Holborn and St. Pancras, London. He decided to end his parliamentary career of 11 years. In his statement, he described it as a great honour for him to represent the region in Parliament for the last 11 years. During this time, he also mentioned the work done during his tenure, including local work such as the House Project, education and preventing violence among youth through the Camden Youth Safety Taskforce. Starmer said that he will now work on international matters such as defense, security, trade and technology as well as combating violence against women and girls in a rapidly changing world. Recalling the Labour Party and his leadership, he said that he will support the current Labour Party Prime Ministerial candidate in the upcoming June 2026 by-election to lead the party to a historic victory in the 2024 election and as Prime Minister for two years, stabilizing the UK economy, improving public services and lifting millions of children out of poverty.
