Kejriwal Slams Government Over Sugar Price Hike Due to Ethanol Production

Kejriwal said that about 25 lakh tonnes of sugar cane has been diverted for ethanol production. According to him, this has had an impact on sugar prices. He claimed that sugar was Rs 45 per kg on July 31, which has now crossed Rs 70 per kg. He said that the government should have assessed how much it would affect sugar availability before diverting cane for ethanol and how it would compensate for the shortfall.
