Kerala's New Chief Minister-Designate VD Satheesan Meets Caretaker CM Pinarayi Vijayan Before Taking Oath

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala's new Chief Minister-designate VD Satheesan on Friday took everyone by surprise as he arrived to meet caretaker CM Pinarayi Vijayan before taking oath of office. The two leaders spoke for about 20 minutes in a courtesy call. Satheesan said he wanted Vijayan's full cooperation on the state's development and public welfare issues and would not stop the previous government's schemes without thinking, but would make improvements if needed. Satheesan pipped Congress general secretary KC Venugopal in the race for Kerala's chief minister. Satheesan is a six-time MLA. He was still the leader of the opposition. SatheesanVD Satheesan will be sworn in as the state's chief minister on May 18. The new Kerala chief minister will also have to wait for three more days. Satheesan will take oath as the chief minister at Thiruvananthapuram's Central Stadium. At the ceremony, top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, were also invited to the party's 43-member legislative party meeting.
