The two leaders spoke for about 20 minutes in a courtesy call. Satheesan said he wanted Vijayan's full cooperation on the state's development and public welfare issues and would not stop the previous government's schemes without thinking, but would make improvements if needed. Satheesan pipped Congress general secretary KC Venugopal in the race for Kerala's chief minister. Satheesan is a six-time MLA. He was still the leader of the opposition. Satheesan will take oath as the chief minister at Thiruvananthapuram's Central Stadium.
