The Kolkata Municipal Corporation's investigation into a series of properties claimed to be linked to Trinamool Congress All India General Secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee has sparked a fresh political controversy. Political circles claim that the civic body's action has exposed not only political pressure but also organisational disquiet within the TMC. According to sources, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has sent notices to multiple properties under specific sections of the law. The list also includes a property in Kolkata known as'Shantiniketan '. Municipal officials are visiting the sites to check for approved building plans, construction documents, and tax information. The investigation has been launched to verify whether the alleged constructions have complied with the approved design and whether there are any outstanding taxes. While the Trinamool Congress has been claiming all the allegations of the opposition as political mudslinging since the beginning. According to political circles, the issue is particularly uncomfortable for the TMC as the Kolkata Municipal Corporation is also a TMC-run body.
