Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta Resigns Amid Surprise Move

According to a recent report by digital media platform News First, Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta has resigned from his post. This is considered to be the second consecutive major resignation in the country after the resignation of the Governor of Bengal. Surprisingly, Gupta was appointed only eight months ago i.e. in July 2025 and he celebrated Holi with the Indian Army only yesterday on 4 March 2026. * Breaking news has been given by WhatsApp news channel News First that Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Ladakh Kavinder Gupta has resigned from his post. * The resignation of the Governor of West Bengal is being seen as the "second resignation in a row." * However, no official government announcement or confirmation has been made in this regard yet. * Notably, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Kavinder Gupta as the 3rd Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh on 18 July 2025. * He also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. * Kavinder Gupta, who had earlier served as the Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir, also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
