Former mayor Ashok Lahoti won the assembly election from Sanganer in 2018. Mansingh, who was a councillor, was also elected as an MLA from Parbatsar in 2013. These examples certainly show that Jaipur's civic politics provided the necessary political ground for some leaders to reach the assembly. Many leaders from Udaipur's local politics also reached the assembly in 2018. Bhanu Kumar Shastri, after being a councillor, became an MLA and MP. Kiran Maheshwari, after being chairman of the municipal council, became an MP and a three-time MLA from Rajsamand. She was also a minister in the state government.
