Madhya Pradesh Government Agrees to Buy 60% Moong Produce Amid Farmer Protests

In Madhya Pradesh, talks between the government and the farmers could not be held on the purchase of moong. Later in the night, the farmers announced to continue their protest. Earlier on Wednesday night, a meeting between the MP government and the farmers lasted for 3 hours. It was decided to buy 60 percent moong instead of the government's 25 percent. The farmers present in the meeting also expressed satisfaction. But for a while the official statement did not say to agree. After the announcement, the protesting farmers and the police came face to face. There was also a minor clash. The police appeared to appeal to the farmers to maintain peace through loudspeakers. After the discussion with the farmers'representatives, the MP government's statement has also come. It was told that the Madhya Pradesh government has decided that now every eligible farmer will not earn 25 percent but 60 percent of his moong produce, which comes to about 3 quintals per acre in districts like Narmadapuram, Sehore and Harda. The decision has been implemented with immediate effect. The government has also said that the farmers will be able to book slots instead of 10 days.
