Madhya Pradesh Metro Introduces 'Celebration on Wheels' Initiative to Boost Revenue

Bhopal and Indore Metro in Madhya Pradesh have found a new way to earn money amidst the ever-decreasing ridership and increasing losses. Metro will no longer be just a means of travel but also a platform for celebration. Metro Rail Corporation has started the'Celebration on Wheels'initiative, under which events like pre-wedding shoots, film shootings and birthday celebrations can be held in the metro premises. Metro management hopes that this will help in generating additional revenue. For this, people will have to spend 5-7 thousand rupees for an hour. Booking will have to be done about 15 days in advance. Fixed rules and timings will have to be strictly followed. Some restrictions have also been fixed keeping in mind safety and discipline. There will be a complete ban on alcohol, bidi-cigarettes and firecrackers in the metro premises. Everyone will be screened at the station before attending the event. Bhopal Metro was inaugurated on 20 December 2025 and it was opened for general passengers from 21 December. Metro has seen a significant drop in footfall with the opening hours.
