Maharashtra Budget Controversy: Kumbh Mela Funding Under Fire

There has been a political controversy over the budget released for Kumbh in Maharashtra. Justice Prasanna B. Varale, referring to the budget of 32 to 34 thousand crore rupees set aside for Kumbh, said that if only 0.1% of this, about 32 crore rupees, was spent on education, then 100 to 125 Marathi medium schools could have been saved from being closed. Justice Varale's comment was made an issue by the Congress and now the priorities of the government are being questioned. While the government says that Kumbh is not just an event of faith, but a big event related to security, infrastructure and employment. Justice Prasanna B. Varale said - "Deputy Chief Minister and Chief Minister said that 32 to 34 thousand crore rupees will be given for Kumbh Mela. I have no objection to the government spending thousands of crores of rupees on development works. But if the state government spends only 100% of this amount, then I have said that it is my experience.
