Mumbai: The political heat in Maharashtra is showing signs of intensifying in the coming days. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the then Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Referring to the controversial case involving Nashik astrologer Ashok Kharat, Fadnavis questioned what was the compulsion to finally call a special cabinet meeting for an ashram? He alleged that the decision to supply 39 lakh litres of water to Shree Shivanika Sansthan, located just 40 km from the Darna dam, raises serious questions about the governance. Chief Minister Fadnavis clarified in an interaction with reporters that just having a photo with someone does not prove a criminal, but the way a particular person or institution has been benefitted by using the government machinery should be investigated. He added that why is the government silent on the issue?
