Maharashtra Government Shifts Offices to Air India Building in Mumbai

Preparations are underway to shift the office of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to the Air India building located at Nariman Point in Mumbai. Not only this, the rest of the government ministries will also shift to this building. The government believes that this will improve the management work and will also save crores of rupees in rent every year. In fact, the Maharashtra government bought the 23-storey Air India building for Rs 1,601 crore last month. This building is located on government land and now there are plans to make it the new main office of the state. The government wants to bring the government offices running at different places outside the ministry to the same building, so that the work can be done easily. Not only the Chief Minister's Office, but all the government departments that are currently working from the rented office will also be shifted to the Air India building. This is estimated to save the government about Rs 200 crore in rent every year. Due to the lack of space around the ministry, many different departments are running in different buildings.
