Mamata Banerjee Authorizes New Representatives for Official Communication with Election Commission

Former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to the Secretary of the Election Commission of India (ECI) on 15 June. In this letter, she clarified that only two leaders have been authorized for official communication from the party with the ECI. According to the letter, Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O'Brien will now hold official talks with the Election Commission on behalf of the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Meanwhile, this morning, Chandrima Bhattacharya resigned from all party posts. In her resignation letter, she said that she is also disassociating herself from the role of the authorized representative of the TMC before the Election Commission. This change is being considered important within the party after the resignation of Chandrima Bhattacharya. At present, there is no detailed reaction from the TMC to this development. In political circles, this decision is being seen as an organizational change. Especially in the electoral strategy and arrangements with the Election Commission, Banerjee wrote a letter to the new Joint Secretary General of the TMC on 15 June.
