Mamata Banerjee Embroiled in Controversy Over Luxury Jet and Helicopter Purchases

TMC leader and former Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seems to be embroiled in a new controversy amid splits in the party. Questions are being raised that the money to buy a luxury jet and helicopter was given by the TMC and the same planes were hired. In fact, a report in Bengal newspaper Anand Bazar Patrika claims this. This question is being asked in the ED's money laundering investigation of Mamata Banerjee's party bank accounts. The ED has frozen three bank accounts of the TMC. It has a deposit of Rs 440 crore. Carewell Aviation provided charter services to VVIPs. These included big leaders of the TMC like Abhishek Banerjee. The ED has said in the statement that these Embraer 600 aircraft and Agusta choppers were later rented to the TMC itself. These were purchased from the party funds. A large amount of money was transferred in the name of the aircrafter. Actually, the entire case is related to the Kolkata-based aviation management and leasing firm Care India Aviation Pvt Ltd. ED has said this in its third statement in April 2023. The ED raid took place in the same year.
