TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee left for Delhi today to attend the India Block meeting in the capital on Monday. Mamata Banerjee was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen and senior Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee. Mamata Banerjee's Delhi visit comes at a time when there is speculation of a split in the TMC. TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee left for Delhi on Saturday. Though he was to accompany Mamata, he left for Delhi earlier. Ahead of the India Block meeting in the capital on Monday, a meeting of the TMC's top leadership is also scheduled. The TMC leadership is expected to take a first-hand stock of the situation within its own house. There are reports that rebel TMC leaders and MPs are trying to replicate in Parliament what has happened in the assembly. This is the biggest setback for Mamata Banerjee since the party's formation in 1998. Over two-thirds of the TMC's lawmakers have been officially expelled from the party.
