Mamata Banerjee Seeks Early Investigation into Opposing Faction's Claims

Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee wrote a letter to the Election Commission on Wednesday (29 July 2026). In it, she appealed for an early investigation into the claims made by the opposing factions. She said that the Ritabrata Banerjee-led faction was given extension twice. Despite this, they failed to file a reply. She said in her letter that her faction had given its opinion within the deadline of 6 July from the commission. The opposing faction was given time till 10 July 25. Mamata said, "Despite extending the time twice, no reply has been received. Therefore, it can be assumed that all the things and statements mentioned in our letter of 6 July 2026 have been accepted. They have no answer." Banerjee alleged that the opposing faction is trying to create false evidence to strengthen their side. Banerjee said that the opposing faction is trying to build up strong evidence like yours.
