Imphal:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met a three-member delegation from the Manipur government led byChief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singhat the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi.The delegation included Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen of the BJP and Losii Dikho of the Naga People’s Front (NPF). Kipgen, who represents Kangpokpi district, is Manipur’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister.According to an official statement issued by theManipur Chief Minister’s Secretariatin Imphal, this was Khemchand Singh’s first meeting with the Prime Minister since assuming office on February 4.During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed Modi on steps taken by the new government to restore peace and harmony in the state.He urged the Prime Minister to extend special attention to the all-round development of Manipur and the wider northeastern region, with particular emphasis on women’s empowerment in both hill and valley districts.Khemchand Singh and his two deputies also invited the Prime Minister to visit Manipur.Earlier, on Monday, the Chief Minister met Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in New Delhi — his first meeting with the Union Minister since taking office.During the discussion, Scindia informed the Chief Minister that the DoNER Ministry is funding a polo project in Manipur, the birthplace of the modern game of polo.He also assured Khemchand Singh that the Ministry would coordinate with other central ministries to address issues concerning the state.The DoNER Minister reiterated that the Ministry is actively pursuing development initiatives across the entire northeastern region.Related
