Imphal:Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur andNaga People’s Front(NPF) leaderLosii Dikhostated on Wednesday that central leaders have not given any hint regarding the expansion of the BJP-led government in the state.Speaking to the media upon his arrival at Imphal Airport, Dikho denied reports of an immediate expansion following his return from a Delhi mission.Dikho and fellow Deputy Chief MinisterNemcha Kipgen, a Kuki woman leader of the BJP, Manipur, had accompanied Chief MinisterYumnam Khemchand Singhto Delhi from February 21 to 25.During the trip, they held discussions with the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister, Union Defence Minister, Union Finance Minister, and BJP central leaders.Regarding the state cabinet, Dikho noted that central leaders have indicated a budget session for the Manipur Legislative Assembly in March.Earlier, upon arrival, Chief Minister Khemchand avoided the media and was whisked away under tight security, fueling speculation that the ministry expansion might be delayed.The new government, headed by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand, was sworn in on February 4, 2026, comprising two Deputy Chief Ministers, Losii Dikho and Nemcha Kipgen, and two Cabinet Ministers, Govindas Konthoujam and Khuraijam Loken. Since then, the government has been functioning with these four ministers, all without assigned portfolios.Reports indicate that the Central Government is paying special attention to the restoration of peace and development in Manipur.During his Delhi visit, Khemchand also met with BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh to discuss the expansion of the state’s Council of Ministers, portfolio distribution, strengthening the party in Manipur, and ensuring a strong performance in the 13th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, due in 2027.Related
