Married Woman Alleges Torture by Husband and In-Laws in Ahmedabad

A shocking case has come to light from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where a married woman has levelled serious allegations against her husband and in-laws. The 34-year-old woman, in her complaint to the police, has alleged that she was subjected to continuous mental and physical torture since her marriage. The woman has also alleged that despite the gynecologist's explicit prohibition, the husband forcibly made physical relations, causing her severe injuries and later her uterus had to be removed. After receiving the complaint, the rural women's police have registered a case and started an investigation. According to the police investigation, the complainant woman was married to a young man from Rajkot in the year 2011. The woman alleges that since her marriage, the in-laws used to intimidate her by citing her high-profile status. They said that even if she complained, they would have nothing to lose and she would have to suffer. The woman alleged that her husband often quarreled with her and assaulted her. According to the complaint, her husband had once lathi-charged her. The woman also alleged that she was subjected to harassment by his in-laws for a long time.
