The controversy in the Meghalaya Cricket Association has also affected the Ranji Trophy team. The entire team had to be changed before the ongoing Plate Division match against Nagaland. The new team was announced 2 days before the start of the match. The players of the old team, who had played three matches, were also practicing for the fourth match, but after the court's decision, MCA (Meghalaya Cricket Association) president James Sangma had to select the new team. The ongoing tussle between the MCA president and secretary Reynold Kharkmani is the cause of this dispute. Kharkmani was suspended after allegations of not acting on the sexual harassment complaints involving the players of the Meghalaya U23 women's team. The Meghalaya High Court deemed Reynolds'decisions illegal and the association's Apex Council's Ranji team was also declared invalid. After which the new team was selected for the match against Nagaland. On this situation, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told The Times of India that they had to accept the High Court's decision, so the BCCI president has no option but to follow the High Court's order.
