Milan Pradhan Arrested for Outstanding Warrants in Purba Medinipur District

According to the police, Milan Pradhan, a resident of Gangra village under Nandigram police station area of Purba Medinipur district, was arrested on September 18 from Chandipur police station area. The police had said that the arrest was made as part of a special drive for execution of long-pending non-bailable warrants during elections and by-elections. According to the police, the drive is being carried out under the standing instructions of the Election Commission. According to a press release by the Kolkata Police, "The cases pending against the arrested person include serious offences like murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping with intent to murder, causing disappearance of evidence, house trespass, rioting with arms and deadly weapons." According to the police, the cases pending against Pradhan include the Nandigram police station case of April 30, 2007. The case was registered under Sections 147, 148, 149, 448, 302 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 27 of the Arms Act. Apart from this, on November 15, 2007, 1464 IPC cases were registered at Nandigram police station.
