Mithun Chakraborty Appointed as Advisor to West Bengal Government

In West Bengal, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) entrusted veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty with a major responsibility in the state government. CM Suvendu Adhikari has appointed Mithun Chakraborty as Advisor in the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Government of West Bengal with immediate effect and until further orders. An official notification in this regard has also been issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Government of West Bengal. The notification said, "The Governor is very pleased to order that Mithun Chakraborty is appointed as Advisor to the Government of West Bengal in the rank of Cabinet Minister in the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs with immediate effect and until further orders. This notification is being issued in public interest with the approval of the competent authority.
