Mizoram's Chief Minister Meets Home Minister Over Controversial Bill

Speaking to reporters in the Parliament House complex, Chief Minister Lalduhoma gave a detailed account of the meeting. He had come to meet the Home Minister along with a delegation of prominent church leaders from Mizoram. The delegation had raised their concerns about the stringent provisions of the new bill. The Home Minister listened to the delegation very carefully. Amit Shah said that the bill will be debated and passed in the House on August 12. He also assured that no organisation will be prosecuted for old cases. The law will be applicable only from further dates. The bill will be debated in Parliament on August 12. The bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on March 25. The advertisement law will not be applied retrospectively. It will completely protect the assets of old service institutions that have been running for years. A new'Designated Authority'will be created to oversee and manage foreign funds and assets made of them. Under Section 14,14A and 14B, the government will not decide on the time of cancellation or renewal of licences or renewal of new assets of an institution if the institution does not have a temporary certificate.
