MNS Demands Cancellation of SIR Campaign, Alleges BJP Manipulation

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray on Friday (September 25) demanded the cancellation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of electoral rolls. He further alleged that the BJP has used it as a weapon since 2025. He demanded an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the SIR process. He also appealed to the opposition parties to unite on this issue. Raj Thackeray said in a post on'X'that the SIR process should be started afresh. He said, "It has become clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party used people like Gyanesh Kumar to continue its hold on power. For this purpose, it has adopted a new weapon, the SIR since 2025." The MNS chief further said, "After the irregularities in the SIR came to light and even the Election Commissioners spoke about them, only one conclusion comes out that the entire SIR should be cancelled." MNS said that all the major opposition parties should launch a united movement on this issue to ensure that the country's major elections are held in the future.
