Mumbai Metropolitan Region Elects Civic Chiefs Ahead of BMC Mayor Vote

While Mumbai will elect its mayor for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on February 11 , the Mumbai Metropolitan Region has got its civic chiefs. The elections for Mumbai’s Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) , Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) were held on January 15. Mayor: Sharmila Pimplolkar (Shiv Sena) She was elected unopposed as the 23rd Mayor of Thane Municipal Corporation . Pimplolkar is a second-term corporator representing the Naupada-Kopri ward. She became mayor partly due to her social work and support from party leadership. Deputy Mayor: Krishna Patil (BJP) Mayor: Sujata Suraj Patil (Bharatiya Janata Party – BJP) Sujata Suraj Patil was elected Mayor of Navi Mumbai after municipal elections, in which the BJP secured a clear majority in the corporation. She is a BJP corporator and has been active in Navi Mumbai civic politics. Local reporting notes her selection reflects her party’s strong position and internal support. Deputy Mayor: Dashrath Bhagat (BJP) accompanying her leadership team. Mayor: Harshali Chaudhary (Shiv Sena – Eknath Shinde faction) Elected unopposed, ending several years under administration rule. Chaudhary is known for prioritizing transparent governance and public service in the corporation. Deputy Mayor: Rahul Damle (BJP). Mayor: Dimpal Mehta (Bharatiya Janata Party – BJP) Mehta was elected with a strong majority in the MBMC. She has prior experience in local civic politics and has served as mayor before, indicating continuity in leadership and local political influence. Deputy Mayor: Dhruvkishor Patil (BJP).
