Nagaland's Chief Electoral Officer Urges Political Parties to Appoint Booth-Level Agents for Statewide Integrated Registration Exercise

Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bhagyashree Banayat on Thursday asked political parties to appoint booth-level agents (BLAs), if they have not done so yet, for the successful conduct of the SIR in the state. During a meeting with representatives of political parties in Kohima, the CEO emphasised the importance of appointing BLAs and explained various aspects of the SIR, including training, printing of enumeration forms, and other processes involved in the exercise. The meeting was attended by representatives from the BJP , INC, and Naga People’s Front. The qualifying date for the SIR in Nagaland is October 1, while preparations, training, and printing have been scheduled from August 5 to August 14. House-to-house visits by BLOs have been scheduled from August 16 to September 14, while the rationalisation of polling stations is set for September 14. The draft electoral roll will be published on September 20, and the period for filing claims and objections will be from September 20 to October 20. The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will be carried out from September 20 to November 18, while the final electoral roll will be published on November 22.
