Nagpur Police Seize Illicit Liquor Worth ₹2 Lakh in Operation Against Bootlegging

Police in Nagpur have unearthed a case of bootlegging in which smugglers adopted a modus operandi similar to the film Pushpa to hoodwink the police. The booty was placed on top of the liquor-laden truck so that only scraps could be seen on the vehicle when viewed from outside. However, the truck was seized after police tip-off and investigation. The search led to the recovery of thousands of liquor bottles from a specially created space in the back of the truck. Nagpur Crime Branch has seized country-made liquor worth around ₹2 lakh in an operation against illicit liquor smuggling. The operation was carried out in the Eighth Mile Market area on Amravati Road. Police have arrested one accused in the case. The investigation is now focused on where such a large consignment of liquor was brought from and where it was to be delivered. According to the police, Ajay Shukla, a crime branch employee, received information that a truck loaded with liquor from Dhule was being driven towards Garhchiroli. As soon as the police team reached there, a search operation was launched to intercept the truck.
