The matter has become politically heated after Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah supported the students of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. Naseeruddin Shah had claimed that the BJP wants to take revenge on all those who do not agree with its ideology and policies. Hitting back, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that Shah is running a campaign against India under the garb of our protest. The disorder in the institute started on September 27, when protesting students barged into the main auditorium during an event held with due permission. This was followed by manhandling and vandalism. The Vice-Chancellor was also attacked. More than 500 students are on an indefinite sit-in after these incidents. Naseeruddin Shah had supported these students, after which the controversy started. Speaking to reporters in Hubli, Karnataka, Joshi said that these people keep saying that there is no democracy in India. The fact that people have the freedom to speak their mind is proof that millions of people here appreciate the constitutional values of the country. Sanjay Nirupruddin Shah said that the Shiv Sena and the Shiv Sena are very strong here.
