National Health Mission Employees Face Strict Punctuality Rules: MLC Signature Raises Questions

The letter, signed by SP MLC Mukul Yadav, was given in the Legislative Council on August 5 under Rule 111 (Question of Public Importance). It states that it is mandatory for National Health Mission employees to come to office at 9.45 am. Half-day salary is deducted for computer operators, programme assistants, consultants and other contract workers if they come even a minute late. No advertisements, action is taken against general managers, deputy managers, finance controllers and other senior officials even if they come hours late. The Legislative Council summoned a statement in the matter from the Medical and Health Department the same day. The department went into a tizzy after receiving the letter and sent a letter to Dr Pinky Joel, Director, National Health Mission. When the department asked MLC Mukul Yadav, it was found that he had not asked the question. The MLC's signature is in Hindi in the question related to the advertisement NHM. His signature is found in English in other questions related to the health department. The MLC said that he signed the question in the Legislative Council.
