The National Counselling of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has reconstituted a 20-member team to prepare new political science textbooks for classes 11 and 12. The new team has been given the responsibility of finalising the syllabus and preparing new textbooks in line with the NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education. The new team will be led by Prof. Sandeep Shastri, Vice President (Bengaluru) of Nitte Deemed University and an academic and political analyst. Dr. Vanthangpui Khobung and Dr. Subhash Singh have been made member coordinators. Both of them will work with the team for formal communication and information about NCERT meetings and publishing rules. The new 20-member team has at least four members who have been reported to have links with the RSS, its student organisation ABVP or its affiliated organisations. These include Yadunath Deshpande, a senior advisor associated with the Ministry of Education's National Syllabus and Teaching-Learning Material Committee, and Prabodhini, secretary of the Maharashtra State Teacher Education Organisation, and secretary of the Pune-based ABVP Knowledge Centre.
