The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar is gearing up for the upcoming Legislative Council elections. A meeting of the NDA legislature party has been called on Friday to finalize the electoral strategy. BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi gave this information after a meeting of the alliance held at the residence of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Wednesday (7 October 2026). Saraogi said that the alliance has discussed the Legislative Council elections and the NDA will contest the elections unitedly. Eight seats of the Legislative Council are to be voted on 23 October. Five of these seats are currently held by the NDA and all the sitting MLAs of the alliance are in the fray again. These include four BJP MLCs. The JDU has fielded candidates on four seats. Sitting JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar is facing opposition from his own party MLA Anant Kumar Singh in Patna Graduates'constituency. This has increased the challenge of the electoral equation within the alliance. The official candidate of the NDA in Saran Teachers'constituency, JDU's Anand Pushkar, has also risen to the occasion.
