After the devastating floods, Nepal has now raised the demand for'climate compensation ', asserting its stance on international aid. Nepal says its contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions is minuscule, but the most severe impacts of climate change are being suffered by Himalayan countries. Glaciers are melting fast and extreme weather events are on the rise. The Kathmandu Post reports that Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal said Nepal no longer sees aid after climate disasters as just humanitarian aid. Its emphasis is on climate responsibility and compensation. He said Nepal is shifting its diplomatic strategy from aid to justice and compensation. According to Khanal, it is not a matter of charity from any country, but fixing responsibility for the climate crisis and compensating affected countries. He said Nepal has also sent formal climate compensation claims letters to international partners in this regard. The foreign minister of Nepal has joined the United States and China to demand more aid from the world's leading emitters.
