Nepal Removes Disputed Map from One-Rupee Coin in Effort to Ease Tensions with India

The Government of Nepal has approved the new design coin. According to this, the one rupee coin will now remove the disputed map of the country. It included Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh and Kalapani. Nepal has been claiming these areas, while India claims them as its territory. But now the stand of the Balendu government of Nepal seems to be softening. This is being seen as a positive initiative between the two countries. In May 2020, the government of KP Oli included these areas, including Kalapani and Lipulekh, in its official map. According to The Telegraph India, sources have informed that on Thursday, the Council of Ministers approved the creation of new design one rupee and two rupee coins by the Nepal Rastra Bank. According to the cabinet decision, the new political map of Nepal will be removed from the one rupee coin. The one rupee coin with the new design will be printed in the Lokar Dhyan Math located in the village of Marang in Mustang, Nepal. According to senior party sources, the picture of this two rupees will be printed on the first map of the Nepal government.
