Nepal to Issue New One Rupee Coins Without Disputed Map

India has achieved a major success on the diplomatic front with Nepal. Nepal is going to issue new one rupee coins. These coins will not have the disputed map of Nepal in which Nepal has been claiming Limpiyadhura, Kalapani and Lipulekh as its part. Instead, this one rupee coin will have the picture of a monastery. Nepal claims that Lipulekh and Kalapani are its territories, while India says that these areas are its territories. In May 2020, the then KP Oli government of Nepal included these areas, including Kalapani and Lipulekh, in its official map. Sources said that on Thursday, the Council of Ministers gave approval to the Nepal Rastra Bank to mint one and two rupee coins with a new design. He said that under this decision, the new political map of Nepal will be removed from the one rupee coin. He said that the one rupee coin with a new design will have the picture of Nepal's disputed map (which included Limpiyadhura, Lipu and Kalepani) instead of a monastery. According to the sources of Kalepani, the picture of the two monasteries will be taken from the old one.
