Former Prime Minister of Nepal and President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, who had fled the country during the Gen-G movement, has returned to Kathmandu after nearly six months. Deuba was given a grand welcome at the Kathmandu airport by party leaders and activists with musical bands and cultural processions. Deuba, 80, went to Singapore for treatment with his wife and former minister Arzu Rana Deuba on February 25. He returned to Nepal alone on Thursday. The question arises whether the Balen Shah government could get him arrested because the Nepal government had written to Interpol for his arrest. While waiting for Deuba at Tribhuvan International Airport, speaking to ANI, senior Nepali Congress leader Bimalendra Nidhi said that the former prime minister had gone abroad for treatment after being injured during the protests. He said, "He went to Singapore for treatment. As we all know, in the previous incident, he was brutally beaten up and his wife was injured in Kathmandu. Thousands of Congress friends and friends are here to welcome him back to Nepal. We will welcome him to Nepal tomorrow.
