Balendra Shah (popularly known as'Balan'), leader of the parliamentary party of the Rastriya Swatantrata Party (RSP), has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of Nepal. President Ram Chandra Poudel on Friday appointed Balendra Shah, former Mayor of Kathmandu Municipal Corporation, to the post as per Article 76 (1) of the Constitution. Notably, in the recent parliamentary elections, the RSP won a landslide victory with a nearly two-thirds majority, following which the party elected Shah as its leader on Thursday. He has become the 47th Prime Minister of Nepal. Balendra Shah can prove to be a practical leader for India.
