Netanyahu Accuses Iran of Trying to Assassinate His Son

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused Iran of trying to assassinate his son. He made this claim during a phone conversation with Channel 14 military correspondent Noam Amir on Monday, in which he also appealed for restraint during Israel's election campaign. Netanyahu did not say which of his sons, Yair or Avner, had been targeted. He said the threat was so serious that he had to demand more security for the prime ministerial candidates. Netanyahu said that Iran tried to assassinate one of my sons. So this promise that I am making is not just a convenience. Without it, they succeed in assassinating my son. People should exercise some restraint, especially during the election campaign. Amir asked Netanyahu if the alleged assassination attempt was part of the intelligence he had received. Netanyahu responded that it was a "very credible case." He said that "my son was targeted by an Iranian leader."
