Newly appointed Vice Chairman of Delhi Jal Board Satish Upadhyay took charge on Tuesday. MLAs Ajay Mahawar, Manoj Shokeen and Delhi Cantonment Board Member Rajesh Goel took oath as members of the Jal Board. He said that more than 4.6 lakh consumers have so far benefited from the Late Payment Surcharge Waiver Scheme (LPSC). This has given a revenue of 637.01 crores to the Delhi Jal Board. Under this scheme, consumers can submit their pending bills without paying penalty. He informed that a special campaign is being run to legalize illegal water connections. Under this scheme, domestic consumers can regularize connections by paying a fee of Rs. 1000 and other category consumers. This scheme will last till 31st August. So far 3107 connections have been legalized. The term of the Vice Chairman and three members will be for two years. Since the formation of the current Assembly in February, 2025, the posts of the Vice Chairman and three members were vacant. On 18th May, the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Satish Malviya and Vice Chairman of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Manoj Upadhyay, Taran Singh, MLA, were nominated on this occasion.
